Short description
Physiotherapy educational programme is carried out since 1999 at the University of Debrecen, at first as an individual educational programme, later, since 2006 as a specialization of the Bachelor of Science programme in Nursing and Patient Care. Since 1st of September in 2009, the physiotherapy specialization programme is managed by the Faculty of Public Health. The organization and implementation is coordinated by the Department of Physiotherapy.
The mission of department is to train and emit physiotherapists with internationally competitive theoretical and practical professional knowledge, who are able to promote the health improvement, the prevention and cure of diseases, as well as the rehabilitation of patient in the frame of health/public health services.
Teaching
The main tasks of the Department of Physiotherapy are the organization, development and operation of educational training programme in physiotherapy specialization in Hungarian and in English.
Differentiated professional subjects are taught by the staff members and the physiotherapists working in the health services. The subjects cover the basics of physiotherapy, kinesiology, mobilization-manual techniques, and physiotherapy in the internal medicine, neurology, orthopaedics, rheumatology and traumatology completed with a lot of related subjects. Elective and optional courses are offered, too.
The further task will be in the next future to teach relevant professional knowledge for the students in the Complex Rehabilitation master programme.
Research activity
Teachers of the department perform scientific activity in the field of muscle physiology, biomechanics, physiotherapy in rheumatology and in prevention joint to the doctoral programmes in the field of theoretical and clinical medicine, as well as the public health. Scientific activity of students fits to these fields.
